Tough mug

Kelley was cruising around the internet and came across this cool new mug from the UK.

Mug is part of Cockney Rhyming slang and through the strange word association of said slang it means “Fool”. Toby Jug, or Steam Tug then represents the.. I don’t know, I’m from Denver, not London.

This is not a dainty mug for your ‘cuppa tea, this is a mug for the burly roughneck, football hooligan on your shopping list.

Annie does lavazza

For the past 16 years LaVazza espresso has been creating a calendar that has become a collector’s item for industry ’spro heads and art aficionados alike. No, I don’t have one and no, I am so not important enough to get one. I have to look at the photos online like everyone else.

Past photographers have been David LaChappelle, Erwin Olaf, and last year, Finlay MacKay. Great work, but this year it is Annie Liebovitz. You can see the calandar here or by clicking the photo above!

ameritocracy

Coffee houses have historically been a hot bed of ideological debate and creativity. Now is no different in this very important election year.

Everyday in the store, politics and the election have been a central topic of discussion and of course everyone has an opinion about who said what and why.

Yesterday a couple of guys were working on a project in the store and of course I asked what is it you guys are doing? Turns out they have a great website they are putting together and it is definitely going to be on my list of sources for fact checking.

Ameritocracy.com is a fact checking website that is user generated and it doesn’t take long on the site that you realize how fun it is to check out your candidate, news story, local news story etc.

Very cool site you should check out.

God in a Cup

On Sunday, Muse Coffee was very proud to host an event that was attended by many of Seattle’s most prolific food bloggers to honor Michaele Weissman, author of God in a Cup.  Thanks to Keren from franticfoodie for organizing this event!

God in a Cup chronicles the specialty coffee industry by following green coffee to your morning cup.  What I like about this book is it that you don’t have to know anything about the specialty coffee industry to enjoy this story.

I have provided links to the bloggers who were present at the event.  It was wonderful to host and get to know these bloggers better after having read some of these blogs for a while. Check out these blogs for great coverage of the food scene here is Seattle and other cities.

Hulu!

I fell in love with Barney Miller from the first couple of notes from the bass guitar in the theme song when I first heard it as a kid. I love it now because the themes are timeless.

Whenever I need a fix of comedy from my favorite characters like Wojo, Fish or Chano, or laugh at good jokes about bad the bad coffee Nick made; I go to Hulu.com.

Hulu is a website where you can watch current and vintage television shows and movies. They also have content created by fans as well as special content of some of your favorite current shows that is just for air on Hulu. Check it out, I love it!

That time of year…

is right around the corner.

It is almost holiday time and therefore, time to start planning your holiday parties and getting your holiday card list put together.

I always want to have the most unique holiday cards. One of my options is to have a custom card designed with my logo and maybe a personal message. Suite 7 Creative here in Queen Anne creates custom cards for invitations, holiday cards, announcements, whatever your needs are.

Suite 7 Creative does a whole lot more and has a huge portfolio to look through. You are sure to be impressed.

Don’t forget, Muse is available for event rental as well.

stripteas!

Of course we serve the best coffee in Seattle, but we also source the finest in tea

I want to welcome StripTeas to the Muse family. We are the first in the world to carry this product and could not be prouder. Very rich and delicate Indian teas blended in India by one of the partners.

Kashmiri Kahwa is a blend of Indian Black tea and almonds, cardamon and saffron and Sweet Khus is blended with hard to find Khus root. We also serve Darjeeling.

What makes StripTeas unusual is the packaging. Whole leaf tea is packaged in a thin, aluminum foil that is completely recyclable!

Just wanted to…

…say ‘Thank you’ someone who has inspired me from the first day I met her a couple of years ago and has been so kind, loving and supportive to me from the moment she met me and continues to be to this day.

Kelley has been my biggest supporter and is always there for me when I need someone to vent to, laugh with, cry on a shoulder, celebrate with, the list goes on. She is the Original Muse, in my life and this business.

I know this is indulgent of me, to go on about my partner in my own blog but like I have stated before, blogs ARE indulgent. What is NOT indulgent is to thank the ones in your life who matter the most when they least expect it. I wake up everyday thankful for my life and the people in it, but I don’t say it as often as I should.

Maybe today is the day you thank the people in your life who matter the most.

10th on 10th

This Friday, the 10th of October we will be having an open house here on 10th Ave W.
Our current Artist, Matt Bazemore will be here to represent his paintings. He is a great talent and also takes commissions.

I will be hosting a formal cupping between 6 and 7. Our Roaster, Scott Richardson, will join me in presenting a few different single origin coffees that are roasted at different degrees of roast. I get a lot of customers who ask for dark roasted coffee and what they really want is a bold, full flavored coffee with balanced acidity and body. There are a lot mythconceptions about roasting coffee so come by and experience some great coffee and ask the expert about the roasting process.

We will also have our full assortment of desserts and even a little complementary wine.

This event is in conjunction with our neighbors, Le Visage Spa, who will be providing complimentary skin scanning, brow arching and even a ten minute focus massage.
They will be having drawings for prizes, some of which are redeemable here at Muse.

There is a lot going on down here on 10th Ave W, one of the best micro-hoods in Seattle according to many!
